Hey girl, let’s talk about something we’ve all been guilty of at some point in our lives – boredom eating. It’s that thing where we’re not really hungry, but we just can’t resist the temptation of munching on something. Whether it’s chips, cookies, or whatever’s in the pantry, boredom eating can really put a damper on our health and fitness goals. Honestly, it has been the hardest thing on my journey that I’ve struggled with.
Can we talk about some of the tips I have on how to kick this habit and curb those cravings?
First things first, let’s address the root cause of boredom eating – boredom.
Sounds simple doesn’t it?
When we’re not mentally stimulated, we tend to turn to food as a way to pass the time. So, the key is to find activities that keep us engaged and occupied. This could be anything from reading a book, watching a movie, taking a walk, or trying out a new hobby. The idea is to keep our minds busy so that we’re not constantly thinking about food. Something you enjoy!
Get out, and get busy!
Another tip is to make sure we’re actually hungry before we eat. It’s important to listen to our bodies and only eat when we’re genuinely hungry. One way to do this is to drink a glass of water before reaching for a snack. Sometimes, we mistake thirst for hunger, so staying hydrated can help prevent unnecessary snacking.
Wanna know my other tip?
Try the Green Bean test. If you are hungry enough to go to the cupboard and grab a cold can of green beans and eat it… perhaps, you are hungry!
Next up, let’s talk about snacking options. If we’re going to snack, let’s make sure it’s something healthy and satisfying. Some great options include fresh fruit, veggies with some greek yogurt, or a small handful of nuts. These snacks are not only nutritious, but they also provide us with the energy we need to power through the day.
Finally, let’s talk about mindfulness. When we do indulge in a snack, it’s important to be present and enjoy it. This means taking the time to savor the flavors and textures of the food, rather than mindlessly eating while scrolling through social media. By being more mindful when we eat, we can feel more satisfied and avoid overeating.
So, there you have it girl! With these tips, we can put an end to boredom eating and stay on track with our health and fitness goals. Remember, it’s all about finding activities that keep us engaged, only eating when we’re actually hungry, choosing healthy snacks, and being mindful when we do indulge.
Let’s do this together!
